Helpful Tips
Buy a Tashkent Metro token at any station for 1,400 UZS to ride the clean, fast Soviet-era system.
Yandex Go app covers taxis and ride-shares city-wide and accepts cash or card.
From the airport, catch the express bus 67 to the city center for a fraction of taxi cost.
Say 'Marshrutka' and show the driver your destination on your phone to hop on shared minibuses that fill gaps between metro lines.
Common Scams to Avoid
Unofficial taxi touts inside the arrivals hall quote inflated fixed prices to the city center, often triple the metered fare. Walk past them to the official taxi desk or use the ride-hailing app pickup zone outside.
Currency-exchange booths just before the exit advertise "no commission" but quietly use a poor rate. Count the notes and compare the rate shown on their screen to the mid-market rate before handing over cash.
Porters in the baggage-claim area grab bags without being asked, then demand a large tip in USD or euros. Politely decline assistance or agree on a small sum in Uzbek som before letting them touch your luggage.
